During the NASAD and FIDER accreditation process, it was decided that the title would be changed to President. Previous to Arthur Satz, Jr., who became the first President of NYSID after the College received accreditation in 1976, the NYSID Directors were Sherrill Whiton (1916-1961), and Sherrill Whiton, Jr. (1961-1973).
