F. Schumacher & Co., founded in 1889, a firm for both imported and domestic home furnishing textiles. In 1923, F. Schumacher & Co. established Waverly to introduce their fabrics to the American market.

Materials in this collection are mainly visual and consist of hand painted designs created by surface designer Joann Nelsen from the 1970s - 1990s. The collection also contains a small amount of correspondence, business papers, ephemera and photographs related to both her early career as a fine artist as well as her later career as a textiles and wallcoverings designer.
